Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Kamidori Alchemy Meister is a Turn-Based Strategy game with some strong Visual Novel influences released by Eushully in February of 2011 and translated into English by Seiha approximately one year later. It centers around the life of one Wilfred Dion.

Wil starts the game as a young alchemist in training after he failed to finish the exam last year due to the death of his parents. After quickly being promoted to a full but low ranking alchemist, he quickly acquires three guards, who all just happen to be beautiful women and the three main heroines: Yuela the swordswoman, Emelita the mage and Serawi the elven archer. As an alchemist, Wil’s profession is to go out into the wilds, slay monsters and craft useful items for the populace out of what he can gather. However, trouble quickly surfaces when a seemingly invincible creature known as The Reaper appears and begans attacking alchemists at random. And it seems to have an odd interest in Yuela.

On the bright side, Wil gets along with the native faeries and nature spirits which are referred to as mana. Apparently, most humans simply ignore them, but the bonds Wil forges with them rapidly excels him to greatness in the town of Yuidora. Can Wil become a master alchemist, protect the city, his loved ones and deal with threats like The Reaper?

In terms of gameplay, the combat tends to play out with noted similarity to the Fire Emblem series but with the addition of Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors and a number of complex skills. In order to progress with the game, however, you need to tend to your store just as much as to the monster slaying. Apart from the gameplay requirements, you will have to make all of your gear and by a certain point in the game if you want to make any real money, you need to cleverly tailor your store to suit whatever needs you have.

Tropes used in Kamidori Alchemy Meister include:
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Averted. Wil has heard that Disnafrodian swords are so sharp they can cut even stones, but is quickly disabused of the notion and yelled at for throwing a rock during training practice since it could badly damage the sword.
  • Alien Lunch: Or at least snacks. The supplements that the Yuichiri can eat taste great to them, but just a tiny taste knocks Wil unconscious.
  • All Amazons Want Hercules: Jane, the manager of the arena.
  • All Trolls Are Different: They’re massive, powerful creatures that despite being humanoid and weapon users don’t appear to be anything more than animals. At least, hopefully they aren’t.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: None of the male characters are drawn with nipples.
  • Annoying Arrows: The net effect of the Projectile Defense skill. Arrows are a danger normally but this skill reduces the damage from ranged attacks significantly unless the archer is standing within spitting distance of the target.
  • The Archer: Serawi
  • Artificial Limbs: One background alchemist has an arm made of iron. It’s never really remarked upon, implying such things are fairly commonplace.
  • Asskicking Equals Authority: Yuidora is ruled by the top alchemist of the city and you only become a top alchemist when you’re a seasoned monster slayer. Otherwise, how can you collect materials to work with?
  • Attempted Rape: Crayanne is captured by an alchemist who intends to both rape her and gather the nectar she produces until she dies.
  • Badass: Yuela is probably the biggest badass of the group. While everyone can handle themselves in a fight, she's the only trained soldier.
    • Badass Adorable: Characters like Emelita or Suina tend to be great fighters quite in contrast to their meek and nonthreatening appearance.
    • Badass Normal: Wil. He isn't a wizard, a soldier, or a member of a fantastic species. All his power comes from a combination of his skill as an alchemist, his bonds with a large number of races, and sheer determination.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: During Uya’s plot line, he tries to force himself to grow stronger too quickly and must battle a dark version of himself.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The afanc and the dragon both pull this off when your party is apparently badly outnumbered.
  • Bishonen: Wil is rather pretty for a guy, as is Leguna.
  • Blob Monster: Putettos and, when first acquired, Aht.
  • Blue and Orange Morality: Mylen Ploa and Wil initially assume the other ascribes to their own moral system. Wil has standard human morality, but Mylen comes from a world where invasions and fighting are considered playing and if you lose a fight, you cheerfully submit to the fiend that beat you and allow them to kill you. She's pretty confused when he doesn't and starts studying human ethics and the contradiction between dislike for killing and eating meat.

Wil: 'It's those clothes. When I see you in them, I can't stop these feelings.'
Streaming sticky note girl taiwanese drama sub indo. Wil: 'They're only available as a preorder bonus. All the fans who preordered know the story of who wore them.'
Yuela: 'W-What are you talking about?'

  • Breast Plate: The customized armor. Well, the normal armor did too, but the special armor takes it even further.
  • Buxom Is Better: Judging by his nervousness when measuring the busty Yuela and Serawi for their armor as compared to casually doing the same for the flat Emelita, Wil is a breast man.
  • Call a Rabbit a Smeerp: What we would call fairies or spirits are instead referred to as mana.
  • The Cameo: Yuela, Emelita and Serawi have outfits that are Shout Outs to past Eushully games. Additionally, you can add Lily, a heroine from this game's Prequel, to your party.
  • Catgirl: Mares like Sharty are basically flying catgirl succubi.
  • Character Tiers: An in-universe example enforced by the game; Wilfred has a limited pool of Command Points to deploy characters from his party and more powerful units use a commensurately higher number of Command Points. New Game+ characters can use up ALL of Wil's CP just by deploying four of them until Wilfred gets his New Game Plus classes.
  • Chick Magnet: Wil. During the hot springs bonus chapter, all the girls surrounding Wil appear to be aware that the others are pursuing him or in a relationship of sorts. The actual main heroines are conspicuously absent for this scene, though. Then again, there's the gothic armor scene which implies that all three of them are in on it as well.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Leguna betrays Yuidora to help the nobles try to conquer it, only to later destroy the same nobles with some IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZER action when he no longer needs them.
  • Creating Life: Some alchemists create golems that are similar to earthmen, though Serawi rather dislikes them.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Emelita.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Emelita has one.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Multiple, including the likes of Suina the undine or Crayanne the yuichiri.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Yuela has a soft spot for cats, though Wil thinks she wants to eat them.
  • Cutscene Incompetence: No matter how well you’re doing against a boss, when the cutscene goes into effect, it’s suddenly way stronger than your whole party combined. Perhaps it’s for the best, though, since most of the bosses aren’t really evil.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While some demons certainly are corrupting and vicious, there are others such as Sharty that are perfectly decent, if possibly somewhat selfish.
  • Deadly Upgrade: Uya, dissatisfied with his rate of growth, chooses to become an akuko to be of more use. Doing so puts him at severe risk of being devoured by his inner dark side and becoming a rampaging monster.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: Happens regularly in the game. In fact its one of the primary means of meeting new party members.
  • Disc One Nuke: By completing one optional quest, you’re able to get the bowling ball weapon for Suina. It grants plus 40 strength, which is roughly ten times the attack power of any of her other items you might have at that point.
  • Dream Weaver: Mares. She gives an example by making Wil think of a Marry Them All ending with the main heroines.
  • Easy Mode Mockery: If you visit the Deadbeat Dungeon and pick up any of the treasure, the game changes your title to Deadbeat. You can get rid of it by killing the boss of the zone, but it's pretty powerful and not something you'd normally challenge in a normal game.
  • Elemental Embodiment: There are some for each element
    • Earth: Earthmen and the gnomes that create them
    • Water: Undine
    • Fire: Saerav
    • Wood: Yuichiri, though since there’s no wood element attack type Crayl uses wind and Crayanne earth.
    • Light: Angels
    • Dark: Demons
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Generally, light and dark beat each other, water beats fire, fire beats air, air beats earth and earth beats water. Physical has no advantage against any element, though certain units are resistant to physical force. Omni element is a Non-Elemental element that deals 100% damage to all units.
  • Empathic Armor: The elemental armors give the powers of whatever mana they are forged from. A side effect is also that some of the personality of said mana comes with it. Fire armor makes the wearer more aggressive for instance and dark armor imparts the seductive nature and life draining powers of mares.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: The main heroines find Roka to be really hot.
  • Everyone Calls Him 'Barkeep': The guild executive is never given a name.
  • Everyone Can See It: Yuela and Wil in her route are constantly mistaken for lovers, much to their embarrassment.
  • Eyes of Gold: Kohakuren, who is close to a deity after having lived so long.
  • Fallen Angel: It’s noted that sometimes angels become corrupt and their feathers turn black. In a New Game+ there’s a questline involving a fallen seraph, the highest level of angel. She’s actually recruitable, too.
  • Fan Service: Gainaxing character sprites? Stripperiffic characters even before you give them their specialized armor? Oh yeah.
  • Fantastic Racism: Surprisingly little considering the themes of the game, however, mares are treated as though they’re animals.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: Disnafrody appears to be a magic fantasy Japan, while Yuidora is a generic Western civilization.
  • Fetus Terrible: The boss of Serawi's route. You have to kill a cocooned Ultimate Evil or sorts before it can be fully born because it will be unstoppable then.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: The main heroines and Wilfred fit this mould with Yuela the Swordsman, Emilita the Mage, Serawi the Healer and Wilfred taking the role as Thief being able to pick locks and locate secret doors and all. That is not to say that Wilfred will not grow into an unstoppable killing machine and there is rarely anything stealthy about a fellow who picks a hammer as his Weapon of Choice.
  • Fighting Clown: Mylen Phloa wears a jester's motley and is perhaps one of the strongest units early in a new game plus.
  • Fragile Speedster: Your archer units and Uya tend to only have mediocre damage and low HP and defensive scores, but make up for it with ranged attacks, good support skills and good movement and speed scores.
  • Gainaxing: Character sprites actually gainax.
  • Glass Cannon: Emelita and Suina. Yuela edges into this, but since she has a high evasion chance and can at least fight back in melee it’s not as drastic.
  • The Glomp: Aht, which is problematic when you weigh so much that you render people unable to move. And also when you’re entirely made of mud. Fortunately, when Aht has been successfully purified, she no longer completely pins down anyone she glomps. On the other hand, having a mostly naked girl glomping on everyone can be just as awkward.
  • Golem: Earthmen, the only named example of which is the even blobbier than normal Aht until she's purified and looks like a rather gooey female bodybuilfer. There are two kinds of earthmen, the naturally occurring earth spirit constructs and those constructed by alchemists. Serawi apparently disapproves of the latter.
  • The Goomba: Putettos. They’re even acknowledged as such.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Gaptahl.
  • Hair Decoration: Yuela has ornaments that put feathers in her hair, three on each side.
  • Have I Mentioned I Am a Dwarf Today?: Serawi is not likely to let you forget that she’s an elf.
    • This becomes, surprisingly, more prevalent as her route progresses.
  • Have You Seen My God?: Melodiana and Elizaslayn make reference to a creator deity named Father that predates all of the other religions. However, any religion surrounding Father has largely disappeared and his existence isn’t even widely known. In his absence, the angels have tried to continue doing good and associated themselves with various churches and ways of thought.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Not during the course of the game, but long before it began Asmodeus was an angel who sacrificed her position and happiness to become the Sin of Lust in order to maintain the balance between light and darkness. She even admits she never fights with all her power because evil must always be defeated.
Kamidori Alchemy Meister Save Editor

'Where there is darkness, the light can shine brighter. That ancient oath and the resolution made when accepting it has not faded. I am the Deadly Sin, The Great Lust.. Asmodeus. This is my road. This is my pride.'

  • Hopeless Boss Fight: The reaper that appears early on isn’t intended to be beaten, though theoretically if you gave Emelita a good enough holy staff and raised her strength and level enough, she could win the fight in the one round that the first fight lasts. For the fight where you need to get her below 70%, she could obviously be beaten if the map didn’t end as soon as you did.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Jane, the gladiatorial organizer, has one that comes up briefly during the Zalme clam quest.
  • The Horde: Several levels will pit you against a massive swarm of enemies. Generally, you're not trying to kill them all, you're either trying to reach a single target or just survive a certain number of turns.
  • Horny Devils: Mares are basically succubi. After Wil rescues Sharty, she apparently assumes he wants sex as a reward.
    • Considering this is an eroge, she's not too far off.
  • Hot Chick with a Sword: Yuela fits most of the prerequisites including being dishonest about her feelings.
  • Hypocrite: “Go tell people we’re not dangerous or I’ll kill you.” Thanks, Kohakuren. To be fair, the rest of the saerav don’t make such threats. Wil is also bothered by the idea of killing monsters for sustenance when he kills things all the time to craft things and eats meat himself.
    • In Wil's case it seems more likely he doesn't like killing simply for the sake of killing. The only time he really shows any discomfort at a monster's death is in Ragsmuena's quest line and even then its only when she apparently eats her target's soul. He quickly shrugs it off as necessary afterwards.
  • Improbable Age: Wil becomes the Lord of Yuidora within a year of becoming an alchemist.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Kohakuren uses a pipe.
    • The main heroines also each get one in some of their top tier armors. The biggest offender being Yuela who somehow using a demonic looking stuff rabbit as a sword. The thing is even shown shooting a laser out of its forehead in her critical animation.
  • Inept Mage: Emelita, though not for lack of power or potential. She just has no finesse.
  • Infinity+1 Element: Omni Element. While it has no elemental advantages it also has no weaknesses. Most of the super weapons and abilities are omni element.
  • Infinity+1 Sword: The Ultimate Recipe weapons such as the Legendary Hammer. All of them are character specific and are usually the best weapon for that character in the game.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Aht, which probably shouldn’t come as a surprise.
  • Intimate Healing: Part of Ragsmuena’s recruitment.
  • Jerkass: Kohakuren, but she mellows out eventually. Also, Gantz the merchant.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Leguna constantly insults and snarks at Wil, but generally supports him as best he can.
    • Kohakuren as well, but it takes a trick by her Physical God mate to show Wil the 'heart of gold' part. She promptly tries to beat Wil senseless so he will forget how highly she thinks of him.
  • King Mook: The boss of the Deadbeat Dungeon is a super powered putetto wearing a crown.
  • Kitsune: Saerav are basically kitsune with fire powers living inside of a volcano. Kohakuren is a nine tailed fox and thus can assume a human form
  • Knight Templar: Elizasleyn.
  • Lady of War: Melodiana.
  • Life Drain: The passive Bloodsuck skill has a chance to absorb half the damage dealt to the enemy. Rank one triggers occasionally, rank two fairly frequently and rank three just about every attack, which can be very annoying when your enemies have it.
  • Light Is Not Good: Some angel factions believe very strongly in order and wish to stop all development or social progress, believing the world is good enough as it is. They retain all their deadly holy powers while doing so.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Wil eventually becomes an unstoppable killing machine capable of charging down enemy lines and doing immense damage while shrugging off all enemy blows. It’s very likely that after he reaches a certain point in the game he’ll go off leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in terms of level.
  • Long Lost Brother: Emelita is searching for her older brother whom she has never met. It turns out to be Leguna.
  • Lost Technology: Part of Serawi and Emelita's route, but only really directly addressed during Asmodeus' quest line.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Sharty.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Elizasleyn's supposed songs sound more like glass shattering shrieks when she uses them to attack. Several enemies, mostly harpies, also use sonic attacks. They can be quite devastating as they are all omni attacks and most have the charm status effect.
  • Magic Antidote: Averted. At one point Serawi magically cures a spot of corruption afflicting a tree, but notes that the tree is still going to die. The forest as a whole, however, will recover from the damage done.
  • Magic Knight: Melodiana, who can function decently as a caster, a melee fighter or even a ranged unit if you get her a javelin.
  • Magikarp Power: Aht starts off as an awful unit: Slow, mediocre attack, low movement and terrible magic resistance. But after being successfully purified, Aht takes the first level in badass and completes the process during chapter seven if you’ve been diligent.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: The game tends to initiate sex scenes at either awkward moments or inappropriate places. Or both.
  • Marry Them All: It doesn’t seem to bother anyone that Wil is basically sleeping with every female in his household minus the Guild clerk.
  • Mayfly-December Romance: Serawi and Wil.
  • The Messiah: Wil. He manages to get along with basically everyone in existence and is incredibly forgiving.
  • Mighty Glacier: Aht has terrible movement, speed and evade skills until at least the seventh chapter, at which point there’s an event to at least gain two more movement points. However, Aht does make for an impressive physical wall and can wield two weapon types.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: People are apt to get the wrong impression when a middle school girl yells, 'Please, make me into a woman!' to a grown man in a crowded plaza.
  • Monster Clown: Mylen Phloa, the cheerfully psychotic demon (or Majin) clad in jester's motley that you can recruit in a new game plus. Only *looks* cute.
  • Moving the Goalposts: Kohakuren keeps demanding more and more liquor under different pretexts in order to gain her forgiveness. This is while still demanding that Wil show the townspeople that the Saerav aren’t dangerous.
  • New Game+: Unlocks bonus characters, the ability to import your money, inventory, former party and workshop and has other numerous possible advantages.
  • Nice Girl: Serawi
  • Nice Guy: Wil
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: While Misanshel was already hostile to Yuidora, Wil’s visit spurs them into action.
  • Nigh Invulnerable: The Reaper can’t be damaged through normal means.
  • No Name Given: Pre translation, the noble that appears late in the game and one of the minor NPCs didn’t have actual names. The translator gave them both names since they appeared fairly frequently and it was awkward for them to get unnamed.
  • Non-Elemental: Translated as omni element attacks, they are unaffected by any of the damage modifiers apart from the pure defense stats. There are very few omni element attacks in the game.
  • No Sense of Humor: Yuela doesn’t really get the Yuidora sense of humor, which is sort of silly. She does have a sense of humor, but it’s quite different from Wil’s. Even accounting for that, she jokes around very little.
  • Older Than They Look: Emelita who lost both of her real parents over 18 years ago.
  • One-Hit Kill: The Death effect. Thankfully limited to a few bosses for the monsters.
  • One-Winged Angel: A lot of the female enemies do this by dropping their cloths using the undress skill. It's effectively the same thing as Prevail (you get stronger the lower your hp is) except with fan service. Even the main Heroines get in on the action with the right armors. In fact, they can have BOTH Prevail and Undress giving them a massive stat boast if they drop below the 50% mark.
  • Optional Party Member: You don’t actually HAVE to recruit many characters, but if you don’t you’ll be lacking certain skills: If you fail to recruit Suina you’ll be lacking characters who can dive and if you don’t assemble Aht you won’t have Burrow. At least, you won’t have them as early.
  • Optional Sexual Encounter: Plenty of them, though assuming you just level all your characters you run across most of them eventually apart from a few like Jane's scene and the special outfit scenes with require you to enhance certain armors to a certain point.
  • Order Versus Chaos: Angels like Elizaslayn do not wish for the world to change at all, believing evolution to be chaos.
  • Our Angels Are Different: They intend well, but Melodiana at least comes across as pretty harsh. They’re worshipped by some and appear to be messengers of sorts.
  • Our Demons Are Different: The first one we see, a mare, seems more childish and selfish than actively malicious. They do seem to have a kill on sight order issued against them, though, should they be captured.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: There are some non flying lizard-like dragons in a few dungeon areas, but they appear to be animals. As well as those, there’s also a thunder dragon, which appears to be a classic Western dragon in appearance. Judging by what it says, dragons simply don’t involve themselves much in human affairs one way or the other most of the time, though this particular one was guarding an egg that warded off evil before it was stolen.
  • Our Elves Are Different: Elves seem to be more connected to nature than humans, though not immensely so. They also appear quite visually distinct despite sharing the same physical features apart from the ears. They seem to live by themselves and don’t appear to have high status in Yuidora, at least. Finally, the elf chief does seem pretty dismissive of Wil and humans, no matter what Serawi says to the contrary.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: Can be anything from revived goblins, sea serpents, dragons, gaint bugs, and even demons. They also seem to be created at least two different ways, either through dark magic or a spirit possessing a corpse.
  • Overrated and Underleveled: You’re unlikely to find any of your recruited former boss mobs that are supposed to be practically godlike that impressive.
    • Except who is without a doubt just as horrifying on your side as she was when you fight her. She has no weaknesses, high health, double action, high damage, and excellent range.
  • Parental Abandonment: Wil's parents are killed in the mines before the beginning of the game. It's implied he has been on his own for quite some time.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Yuela
  • The Quiet One: Uya is capable of telepathically getting anything he needs to say across, but still almost never speaks. He finds it difficult to converse with humans even putting considerations of his pride aside.
  • The Plan: Asmodeus has a plan for Wil. Namely having him become powerful enough to avert a war between the gods of light and darkness. This is done by journeying into the dungeon with the highest base level (95) and defeating what is essentially Asmodeus' counterpart among the angels.
  • Reality Warper: Archfiends.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Rosanna can be rather cold and quick to make judgments, but she’s generally fair.
  • Redemption Demotion: Characters like Elizaslayn and the afanc are recruitable, but once they’re fighting for you they’re really not that powerful anymore. You can even recruit the reaper after the soul of Yuela’s sister has been separated from it, at which point she’s no longer almost invincible nor does she get nearly as many one hit kills.
  • The Rival: Leguna, sort of. Or so he insists, though the two never really compete.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Aht is or becomes a girl eventually. This is kept from the viewer by the fact that until becoming humanoid Aht does not have any voiced lines, which are reserved for female characters, and cannot equip female-exclusive items.
    • Unfortunately, visiting the gallery page completely ruins the surprise.
  • Save Scumming: Discouraged during the normal course of the game by having many actions, such as the results of an attack, be a random seed rather than a random number. What this means is that this same action will always yield the same result regardless of how many times you save and load the game. However there is a way to easily save scum Random Drops by using portals which is all but necessary for some of the minor quests that involve collecting rare drops off certain monsters.
  • Screw Destiny: Apparently, there are rare humans with the ability to fly in the face of fate. Elizaslayn is curious about Wil because she thinks he might be the first such individual she’s seen in her long, long life.
  • Sequence Breaking: Events are tied to both level and progression in the story, thus it’s possible to have an event that is supposed to take place after another event occur before it instead if you level up too fast. For example, if a few character’s levels are too high, Wil will apologize to Yuela before he’s actually done anything ‘wrong.’
  • Shinigami: The first major enemy, the Reaper, last for three or four chapters before Serawi and Emelita split Yuela’s sister’s soul from it, making it lose its nigh invulnerability and allowing it to be defeated. Later, it reappears and acts completely differently, eventually joining the party.
  • Shrinking Violet: Suina
  • Squishy Wizard: Your caster units, especially Emelita. Low health and terrible defensive stats.
  • Starfish Character: Suina and Lenia Nui are two halves of the same individual created by Wil’s father. When she recombines, she becomes a lot more sexually aggressive.
  • The Stoic: Yuela and Melodiana.
  • Stone Wall: Wil starts out as one. However, at some point or another he gains a great deal of movement range and some of the strongest attacks in the game on top of his great HP and defense.
  • Stripperiffic: Most of the armor in the game is woefully inadequate. Sharty at one point suggests making it even more revealing, but is outvoted by Yuela’s sword.
  • Sugar and Ice Personality: Yuela. Emelita and Serawi even find her coldly distant behavior cute.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Three times in two statements from Yuela.

Yuela: “I-I did not work hard to make these! I was not up working at night!”
Wil: “Thank you, Yuela. I love them.”
Yuela: “I-I didn’t work hard because of you…”

  • Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Yuela.
  • Tareme Eyes: Most of the girls have the standard downwards eyes.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Yuela, on the other hand, does not.
  • The Tease: Sharty.
  • Third Person Person: Aht, eventually.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Ironically one of the angels Elizasleyn most closely resembles this role in the standard game before a New Game+. An example of Light Is Not Good (or nice) and the Dark element characters being Dark Is Not Evil.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Emelita.
  • Took a Level In Badass: Apart from the normal level ups, on certain occasions such as special events or hitting a certain level, your characters will go through class changes where they gain major stat boosts and more powerful skills.
  • True Companions: After the Reaper is beaten the main cast all affirms that they’ re companions.
  • Tsundere: It’s not like Yuela is fond of that kitty or anything, despite naming it Mittens and feeding it all the time. She just didn’t want to let it die.
  • Twenty Bear Asses: Quite a few minor quests are some variation of this or mining quests.
  • 24-Hour Armor: Melodiana never takes her armor off. She even comments on it.
  • Underboobs: One of Yuela’s armor sets.
  • Unskilled but Strong: Aht apparently fights with brute force and no technique or real comprehension of how her opponents fight. A class change occurs when this weakness is overcome.
  • Unwinnable: It is possible to enter some battles and be instantly unable to win. For example, if you enter a certain map late in the game with the Soul Maul equipped, you won’t be able to win because you need another weapon equipped but can only remove the Soul Maul at the church. Some of the gathering quests can also work out like this if you don’t already have the resources needed stockpiled.
    • Averted in the cases of cursed weapons as there is an item that lets you remove them in battle. Still played-straight with some of the gathering quests.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: What happened to that conspiring noble in Yuela’s route and who trashed the fire sanctum? As a matter of fact, what happened in Yuela’s backstory? It’s extremely vague.
  • White and Gray Morality: There are about two actually bad people in the story and neither is really that important.
  • White Mage: Hannah, who joins you in a New Game+ if you complete all her quests, is the only character that has access to every single healing spell and several powerful holy spells.
  • Why Did It Have to be Heights?!: Yuela
  • Winged Humanoid: Angels and mares.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: If a saerav pursues power too quickly, it risks becoming a rampaging akuko, an evil fox. But as it turns out, this is actually part of the process of becoming a kuutenko, a more or less Physical God.
  • Woolseyism: Invoked on the part of the translators. who pretty much said “We didn’t translate this completely accurately because an accurate translation would be really confusing, annoying and have a number of other problems. So deal with it.” The translation of story elements is the same, but improvements were made for the sake of clarity and consistency. Apparently the game had some pretty sloppy editing. A lot of terms, such as afranc and mare are also the work of the translator as they are more accurate (if not familiar) analogues to the characters.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Some of the cast like Yuela or Serawi have natural hair colors. Others like Sharty or Emelita do not.
