4. Industry and Market analysis
The market is growing according to research and the growth potential is promising. There are four known commercial Snail farming companies in Britain, rearing snails using extensive method of farming and the growth has been continually increasing, according to research our immediate competitor Aylesbury snail farm has increased production units by over 1000 square feet and the market continue to depend on importation from western Europe to fill the big gap on the market. Snail new venture s will grow and process the production locally following the strict British regulations and standards and this will be an added advantage and enable the company to penetrate the market.(Winter 2013)
According to 2012 report by keynote, the restaurants markets are expected to experience continued steady growth of over 8% between 2012 and 2016 reaching a market value of over £29million.
The snail meat has a high value of nutrients and many people, including the government of the day is stressing on health eating and the trend of the snail meat consumption according to research, is increasing drastically and the four commercial snail producers in Britain are struggling to meet the demand (winter 2013) and even the biggest consumer in Europe, France which consumes 30,000 tonnes of snail meat annually. Although France have about 300 snail farmers who could only sustain 5% of the total consumption and the remaining big deficit has to rely on importation from western Europe. Snail farmers cannot sustain demand for the snail delicacy, statistic show that since 2000 the demand has sky rocketed from 30,000 tonnes annually to750, 000 in 2015, (Milmo2014)
The outcome of our primary research , telephone survey showed that 28 of the restaurant contacted serve the snail delicacy and 10 have never served ,and only 6 out of the 28 restaurant contacted serve locally produced snail delicacy, and most of them serve frozen and a large number of the restaurants indicated that they would prefer locally produced products.
Snail farming in a large scale requires a lot of finances in terms of equipment and resources, snail shells have been found in prehistoric site and this indicate that snail was eaten in prehistoric time. Some people eat snail during lent. Consumption of snails has increased as people are becoming experimenter and are encouraged by cookery programs and magazines, as well as having widely travelled, increase but most of the snails eaten are imported

Swot analysis
This is the analysis of the strength weakness, opportunities and threats.
Our immediate competitors is a large farm in Aylesbury Oxfordshire rearing snail using extensive method of farming, strength they have enough financial capability to facilitate expansion, weakness the farm is very big and would not be able to offer personalised services., Snail New Venture, strength are good management skills quality products and flexible to meet customers demand whenever is needed swiftly and happily. Weakness, the business is lacking good systems which will be developed as the company grows. Threats entrance in the market by the western European farmers who can produce the product cheaply however we will strive to retain our royal customers and our product having been produced locally will have an upper hand in the market
Snail new venture will continue to train our staff continuously and management will be sent for special courses in Australia and Italy where they have institutes (international snail farming institute) offering advanced levels in snail management so that we can continue gaining competitive advantages over our competitors.
Opportunities the high demand for snail eggs and snail meat
Threats –entrance to British market from the Eastern Europe countries that can be able to operate on minimal production costs
